Okay right now the “eczema treatments niche” is a very hungry market for big business for  a couple of big reasons. First of all, alot of conventional Eczema cures rarely work. Instead, they simply cover up the symptoms (it does a poor job at that too) and never actually cure Eczema from the root – Now I have bought and been given many eczema products to review and I believe to have found a product that does it just nicely, but that’s for a future post as I’m still researching it on your behalf.

Here Are The Seven Most Common But Different Types Of Eczema:

1. Atopic Eczema / Atopic Dermatitis

The most common types of Eczema, sometimes called Infant Eczema as it is very common in babies under 1 year. Up to 20% of children suffer from Atopic Eczema but under 5% of adults. The good news is that most children ‘grow out of it’, although it is not pleasant waiting for you or your child to ‘grow out of it. 2. Irritant Contact Eczema / Allergic Contact Eczema / Contact Dermatitis

Contact Eczema is probably the easiest types of Eczema to understand, diagnose and treat. It occurs on particular areas of the skin that comes into contact with some allergen or irritant. When the allergen or irritant is identified and removed the Eczema clears up.

Allergens include: nickel (common in Jewellery), other metals, perfumes and soaps, rubber, cement, resins and glues, plants, sugar, flour, fruits, fish and some meat.

Irritant Eczema is most common in a working environment where that hands are frequently wet and is sometimes called Occupational Dermatitis.

Varicose types of Eczema is usually caused by faulty valves in veins, usually in the lower leg. Sufferers are normally older people who suffer from Varicose Veins or Thrombosis in the legs.  Above all - seek medical help

4. Dyshidrotic Eczema / Pompholyx / Vesicular Eczema

Dyshidrotic Eczema is a types of eczema that come in the form of blistering in the hands and feet. The cause of Dyshidrotic Eczema is unclear but it can be brought about by emotional or nervous tension but may also be a reaction to nickel, cobalt or chrome. Excessive heat or sweat can aggravate the condition. Above all - seek medical help

5. Discoid Eczema / Nummular Dermatitis

This types of eczema is mostly prevalent in adults with dry skin, less common in children and teenagers. Usually takes the form of coin shaped discs of eczema on any part of the body. Disk, or oval may be a ring shape or solid circle / oval. Central heating and excessive heat can aggravate the condition.

6. Asteatotic Eczema / Eczema cracquelée / Eczema cracquele / Asteatotic Dermatitis

Is most prevalent in the over 60′s often associated with a loss of natural skin oils. Shows as cracks (the French word ‘Cracquele’ means covered in cracks, sometimes describes as the surface of old china crockery), frequently appears on the ankles. Most prevalent in the winter and in cold climates.

7. Seborrhoeic Eczema / Scalp Eczema / Seborrhoeic Dermatitis / Cradle Cap

In adults Seborrhoeic Eczema often starts as dandruff of flacky patches on the scalp. Seborric Eczema is a common form of Infant Eczema often starting under the age of 6 months. The red rash on the scalp is sometimes called Cradle Cap. In both adults and infants it can spread to other parts of the face. In infants / babies the red rash is usually more of a greasy red rash than the more common Atopic Eczema.

I just want to say that I can relate to those who have eczema on face horror stories as well as eczema on eyelids nightmares. As a guy who had severe acne, I’m very familiar with having an embarrassingly noticeable red itchy skin patch on my face, specifically around my eyebrows. I just want to start off by giving a brief background on what eczema is and clear up some myths on eczema treatment.

Myth Buster 1: Eczema (Including eczema on eyelids) Are Not Contagious.

Many people have been suffering from this awkward skin condition for years – even after trying countless remedies. Above all, they worry that people around them think that their condition is contagious and therefore it’s normal that eczema sufferers feel left out and avoided by their peers.  It is also very common that eczema sufferers are bullied as well – especially when they are kids. Just go to Google and you can find many eczema on eyelids type of pictures.

Myth Buster 2: Eczema In Children Are Less Likely To Occur

Now what many don’t know is that, Eczema is more common among children than adults. 95 percent of cases occur in children five years or younger. Between 10 and 12 percent of American children are diagnosed with eczema. Of these children, 30 percent will develop asthma and 35 percent will develop hay fever in later childhood. The disease often goes into remission (quiet period without symptoms) in late childhood or adolescence and then flares up again in the early adult years.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), about half of children diagnosed with eczema will improve by the time they are fifteen. The other half will have symptoms of eczema throughout their adult lives. It is unusual for a person to develop any  eczema on eyelids for the first time after age thirty unless they are working in a harsh climate or a wet environment.

Myth Buster 3: You Are The Only One With Eczema On Eyelids

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) estimates that about 15 million people in the United States have some form of eczema. The rate in adults is about 0.9 percent. It is slightly more common in women than in men. Eczema almost never causes death. however, it is a severe psychological and economic burden to patients and their families. Flare-ups may cause children to miss school and eventually fall behind their classmates. Among adults, eczema frequently leads to taking time off from work.The National Institutes of Health estimate that U.S. health insurance companies spend more than $1 billion per year on eczema.
